OUR EDUCATIONAL STYLE IS BASED ON THE PRINCIPLE OF DEMOCRACY, WHICH
TEACHES THE CHILDREN TO BECOME INDEPENDENT PEOPLE, ABLE TO ACCEPT AND UTTER CRITICISM IN AN ATMOSPHERE CHARACTERIZED BY PARTNERSHIP AND THE ABSENCE OF FEAR.
The experiences children make at this age determine their entire life. That is why there are many areas in which they are supported and challenged, because the role of nursery education is to comprehensively develop as many skills as possible. It is our objective to help the children develop into independent people as well as conscious members of society. Another objective is to encourage and develop their motor skills, which are closely linked to the child's mental development. We give children the opportunity to move around, e.g. during kids’ gymnastics lesson, in the playground and during free play. We also stimulate their fine motor skills. We provide sufficient toys and crafts material. Fine motor skills are trained through cutting, coloring in, playing with play dough, threading beads and other activities.

We want to give children the opportunity to build relationships and friendship. They learn to feel part of the group and at the same time interact with the group and deal with conflicts. They practice expressing needs and desires, but also to put their desires on the back burner. In conflict situations children should gradually develop their own solutions and then express these verbally rather than immediately resorting to ”violence“. We familiarize the children with their environment through a variety of projects, which are reinforced through talks, looking at books, outdoor field trips and visits to various institutions such as museums, Art Cafe, Fagnoon, bakery, library etc.

In addition the children use creative techniques such as painting, crafts, singing and dancing. We talk
about our own and others, family, nursery, town and village, transport, seasons etc. Thus the children become more aware of their environment and are able to better put it into perspective. We have decided on groups of mixed ages, which provide the children with the necessary scope to develop at their own pace. In groups of mixed ages the children are made aware of the interests and skills of the other children. The older children learn to develop sensitivity and responsibility towards the younger ones. They offer help and increasingly use their own skills. The linguistic skills of younger children develop quicker than in groups with children of the same age. Their self-confidence also develops more distinctively. The example of the older children, e.g. with regard to dressing and undressing, during crafts or when expressing wishes, motivates the younger ones more and more quickly to do the same as the older children. Mixed-age groups are also particularly suitably for honing social skills; through mutual giving and receiving they are more motivated to learn and feel a stronger sense of togetherness. The children grow up like siblings and stay in the same group all the time. Being ”smaller“ at one stage and ”bigger“ later on is an important experience for the children. For the younger once we always give the opportunity to pull back.

We consider it one of our tasks to offer the children materials and activities, to help them and to encourage them when things go completely wrong. However, we do not intervene at every problem that arises and show them a solution. The children should have the opportunity to discover solutions of their own and to try these out. After all this helps to develop their imagination, their courage to try out something new and their growing independence. We also make sure that the children have enough time and space to spend on activities of their choice.
